Welcome to the teaching portfolio of Jonathan Fox. Below you'll find a copy of my résumé, cover letter, and letters of recommendation. You'll also find some artifacts that develop a little about who I am as a teacher and a leader. I also recommend browsing the tabs at the top of this page, as it is the teaching website that I use with my classes.

Notes from Students
Professional letters of recommendation matter, and so do students' perspectives. These are some of the letters, yearbook notes, and cards I've received from students over the years.

Faith, Thought, and Creativity
I challenge students to think deeply while maintaining their faith. I set and maintain high expectations and help all students achieve those expectations. In addition to developing excellence in traditional skills such as essay writing, I give students opportunities to creatively demonstrate their understanding.

Student Activities Website
Regularly posted pictures and videos of presentations, projects, and activities to encourage student self-evaluation and to give parents a glimpse into the classroom. Link to the site: SBJAMiddleSchool.Wordpress.com

Communication Website
Led the middle school teaching team at South Bay Junior Academy in creating a "Communication Network" website in response to complaints that sixth-grade parents were having a hard time keeping track of what multiple teachers expected. This put vital communication and homework from teachers all in one place and made it easy for teachers to post and update assignments. This greatly reduced parent complaints and made them feel heard. The website is still being used by the middle school staff at SBJA. Link to the site: SBJAMiddleSchool.Weebly.com

Student Showcase
Organized a "Student Showcase" for grades 6-8 to help students see relevancy in the Language Arts, to give them a chance to take pride in their work, and to market the middle school program.

8th Grade Garden
Transformed a barren walkway at the campus entrance into a beautiful place where eighth graders cultivated vegetables and flowers on their own private "farms." The student groups took ownership of the entire process: designing and building the fence, researching and implementing school-wide composting programs, fundraising by collecting recycling, and experimenting in enterprise by holding farm stands to sell their produce.

Yearbook Sponsor
Guided student teams as they created the school's yearbooks. Led both Orcas Christian School and South Bay Junior Academy to transition from paperback books to high quality, full color hardcover books while also reducing cost. This, along with increased sponsorships, meant that we could provide better value to families, improve our equipment, and raise funds for the school budget.
